Partnership Agreement Between Campbell and Cochrane

We are pleased to announce the signing of a Partnership Agreement (PA) between the Campbell Collaboration and Cochrane.

The Agreement provides a framework for the two organisations to work more cooperatively and effectively together in a number of areas of common interest.

Campbell was established in 2000 and has had a close relationship with Cochrane; the organisations also share several co-founders, including Iain Chalmers. Our vision, goals, and principles have been closely aligned with those of the Cochrane Collaboration. Now, for the first time, there is a formal basis for a longstanding cooperation.

The potential for synergy between the two networks, one firmly established within the health sector, the other focused on social issues has grown since 2000, particularly with the greater appreciation of the social dimensions of health.

Areas identified for closer cooperation include training initiatives for review authors and editors, streamlined processes for the production of co-registered reviews, and the development of a shared advocacy programme for evidence-informed decision making.

“Closer cooperation with Cochrane will help us advance our ambition to improve lives through improving the evidence base for policy and practice. We remain a far smaller network than Cochrane, but we are on an upward trajectory,” said Eamonn Noonan, Campbell’s CEO. “This is a great way to start Campbell’s 15th year.”
