Decisions in healthcare and policy depend on the highest available evidence. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses rank highest in the evidence hierarchy in providing information on such important decisions. It has rapidly grown over the last few years in health research.
In this workshop, participants will be taken through the basics of conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses and introduced to the process of registering titles and protocols and conducting reviews with the Campbell Collaboration.
Who should attend? The workshop is suitable for researchers, faculty and postgraduate students from any field of research.
Rationale for systematic reviews
Problem formulation, and developing review questions in the Indian context
Search strategies, study screening, data extraction, and critical appraisal
Reporting standards and guidelines for systematic reviews
Introduction to meta-analysis, effect sizes, and forest plots, and testing for heterogeneity
Creating and interpreting forest plots with Cochrane’s RevMan software
Evidence and Gap Maps
Introduction to Campbell Collaboration and the process for registering a Campbell study, and the Campbell Title Registration Form
Methods: This workshop includes lectures, discussions, and group and computer exercises.
Requirements: Participants should bring their own laptops with downloaded Cochrane’s RevMan software from this site: http://community.cochrane.org/tools/review-production-tools/revman-5/revman-5-download
Course Fee: A course fee of Rs.2000/- will be charged for faculty and Rs.1800/- for students.
