The Campbell Collaboration is a global non-profit research network offering the most complete answers to some of the most important questions the world faces.
We’re an international collaboration of researchers, policy makers, and practitioners, producing evidence synthesis. That includes systematic reviews that look at all the research on one question, test it and summarize it; and evidence and gap maps that show what we know and what we still need to know on vital challenges.
As a volunteer board member you would commit a few days a year and have the chance to make a global impact, with the opportunity to shape the future of evidence-informed decision making, to connect with senior leaders from across disciplines and geographies through our global meetings and networks, and to engage with the latest innovations in AI-driven policy-scale evidence synthesis.
We’re looking for senior leaders from a wide range of backgrounds who can be part of leading a step change—not just for the collaboration but for the use of high quality evidence synthesis to improve lives all around the world.
The Campbell Collaboration has played a leading role in developing the Evidence Synthesis Infrastructure Collaborative, which has secured $126m from a coalition of funders to achieve our shared mission of comprehensive evidence synthesis across all major social issues, using a collective impact approach across many organizations with leadership from the Global South.
The Campbell Collaboration has a vital role to play in delivering that work, supporting everyone who uses, produces, and funds evidence synthesis in public policy and social science. We convened a consortium led by the Campbell UK and Ireland Centre at Queen’s University Belfast that recently won an £11.5m grant from the Economic and Social Research Council to use AI to transform global policy with evidence synthesis.
We have specialist groups working in nine major areas of global challenge so far: aging, business and management, children and young people, climate solutions, crime and justice, disability, education, international development, and social welfare. We have centers and networks in Europe, South Asia, and China so far, and will be expanding that network globally.
Our board needs to reflect our global role so we are keen to hear from senior leaders worldwide who are committed to our mission of providing high quality evidence to inform decisions that affect people’s lives. We are especially keen to hear from potential board members from the Global South.
The process will be overseen by a nominations committee consisting of three current board members, Daniel Ortega, Ebele Mogo, and Zulfiqar Bhutta. The board meets four times a year, with the intention to meet in person once a year. We are seeking to welcome several new board members with flexibility on start dates.
We want to use your time well so, if you are interested, please just get in touch informally with our CEO Will Moy on will@campbellcollaboration.org to let us know.
