Job Description for Post-doctoral Researcher
The Evidence-Based Social Science Research Centre of Lanzhou University, a member of the Campbell China Network, is committed to producing policy-relevant evidence synthesis across policy areas investigated by social science research such as social work, crime justification and education. Centre staff mostly have a public health or epidemiological background, and so are familiar with systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials.
Up to two appointments of one year each for Post-doctoral Researchers are being made to strengthen the centre’s research portfolio.
Duties and responsibilities
The expected tasks of the Post-doctoral Researchers are as follows:
- Lead a research team in the production of a social science systematic review. The topic may be proposed by the applicant as part of the application process. A research team will be assigned to work on the review from Lanzhou staff and students, one of whose tasks will be to search, screen and code Chinese language literature for the review. The review should be registered with the Campbell Collaboration.
- To work with at least two further Lanzhou research teams to assist them in the production of a systematic review for submission to Campbell. Assistance also to be given in preparing versions of the review for journal publication.
- To present lectures and workshops on aspects of review production.
Requirements and qualifications
The successful candidate is expected to have:
- a recently completed social science PhD, preferably including a systematic review
- proven experience in social science systematic reviews, and familiarity with a range of research designs
- fluency in English (it is expected that the successful candidate will be a native English-speaker)
Working knowledge of Mandarin would be a great advantage.
Compensation
The Post-doctoral Researcher will receive:
- One return economy class ticket from home station to Lanzhou
- Accommodation in Lanzhou
- An annual stipend of RMB 160,000
