The share of the working-age population relying on disability and sickness benefits has tended to increase among many OECD countries. As a result, workplace disability management (WPDM) programs have continued to receive a significant degree of attention from both policy makers and researchers in the field.
A recent Campbell Systematic Review has examined the effectiveness of WPDM programs in promoting a return to work. The review team, led by Ulrik Gensby, examined thirteen studies that included data from eleven different WPDM programs.
While the review team was not able to draw any clear conclusions regarding the effectiveness of WPDM programs in promoting a return to work, they were able to identify important areas for future research in the area, as well as relevant implications for practice.
