We are pleased to announce that the Campbell Colloquium in 2009 is being organised in association with The Lancet. Both organisations are currently accepting submissions.

The Lancet is one of the world's leading medical journals. First published in 1823, it remains an independent and authoritative voice in global medicine.

Better evidence for a better world
This year's colloquium focuses in particular on development issues, against the background of growing recognition that education, protection from crime and social welfare constitute the broader determinants of health, also in Lower and Middle Income Countries. Action is needed outside of health care to improve life expectancy and health, to save children and mothers and build a sustainable and prospering society. This also means that we must be able to assess the effects of attempts to improve how people are born, grow, live, work, and age in poor countries. The Colloquium aims to show how the social and medical arenas interrelate and how interventions often target the same individuals across diciplines.

Call for Sumissions
We are interested in papers on both primary research and systematic reviews, and we especially welcome contribution from low and middle income countries. Submissions for presentations at the Colloquium will be accepted until January 15, 2009.

The Lancet is especially interested in publishing research, reviews, and health-policy papers that will be presented at the conference, but will also consider other papers for a theme issue. Their closing date for submissions is December 15, 2008.
