Further to our recent call for nominations to the Campbell Crime and Justice Group Steering Committee, we have revised and clarified the nominations and election processes. Please see below for our new policy.
Please send your nominations to Charlotte Gill (gillce@sas.upenn.edu) by March 1, 2009. Previous nominees are welcome to reapply under the new criteria.
CCJG Steering Committee Nominations
Nomination Procedure
- Any person may nominate a candidate or self-nominate.
- Nomination must include a statement of qualifications relevant to Steering Committee membership.
- Nomination must include a statement regarding the candidate's expertise in experimental field studies, and/or in the use of systematic review and meta-analysis in the development of evidence-based policy.
- The candidate's CV must be included with the nomination.
- All nominations and self-nominations must include at least one letter in support of the application from another person (if this is a nomination rather than a self-nomination, the nominating person can write this letter).
- In accordance with CCJG's rule on meeting attendance, a nomination will be considered an agreement to attend at least one Steering Committee meeting per year if elected, without financial support from the CCJG. Meetings occur biannually, one in the US to coincide with the location and dates of the American Society of Criminology conference, and one in Europe (usually at the Stockholm Criminology Symposium in June).
Discussion Procedure
- Nominations must be sent by email to Managing Editor (Charlotte Gill, gillce@sas.upenn.edu) by March 1, 2009.
- Managing Editor will send all nominations to the Steering Committee by email.
- At least three members of the Steering Committee must voice support for discussing nominees at the next meeting. If this quorum is not reached, nominations will be rejected at this stage.
Election Procedure
- Nominations passing the discussion phase will be reviewed and voted on by those Steering Committee members in attendance at the next meeting.
