What are "burning questions"?
They are important, pressing questions about what works and what harms
in the development of stable and inclusive societies and states. What
policies and programmes contribute to the welfare and wellbeing, and
what policies do not?
You are invited to help create a global list of burning questions. As
part of our effort to unite the worlds of research and of practive, we
especially welcome suggestions from practitioners and policy-makers.
Our focus is social policy, and particular areas of concern include
social welfare, justice and education.
Why is it important to collect burning questions?
The Campbell Collaboration initiates, produces and disseminates
systematic reviews of realiable and relevant research on the effects of
interventions. We will use the list to start systematic reviews on
questions practitioners and policy makers need answered. If reviews
support change of practice, we will say so. If reviews find no valid
primary evidence, we will call for resources to be mobilised to redress
the knowledge gap.
What will happen with the questions you identify?
We will examine all proposals and will as appropriate shape them into
questions which enable a systematic search for evidence. This means
specifying who it is about, what intervention it covers, and what
results (outcomes) are most important. We will consult with you in the
process.
We will regularly post an updated list of burning questions on our
website. Your input will help prioritise our future resarch efforts.
