The Frederick Mosteller Award for Distinctive Contributions to Systematic Reviews is named in honor of Charles Frederick Mosteller (1916-2006), who was the Roger I. Lee Professor of Mathematical Statistics at Harvard University. Many of his works in both theoretical and applied statistics are considered classic texts. Mosteller's work and influence have extended to other fields, particularly health care and school education. *

Eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
  1. The award is for an individual who has made an important contribution to systematic reviews in the areas of sociology, psychology, education, criminology, and social welfare;
  2. Individuals who have made contributions in other fields outside the ambit of the Campbell Collaboration, are not eligible; and
  3. The award may be given for a single paper that reviews literature using systematic methods, or a paper that advances methodology of reviewing, for a body of work relevant to systematic reviews, or for lifetime contributions to systematic reviews.
Nomination
To nominate someone for the Frederick Mosteller Award, please send a letter of nomination, a recent vita of the candidate while carefully noting the specific publication or body of work to be considered by the Nominations Committee to Terri Pigott.

The Nominations Committee is comprised of the members of the Campbell Methods Group Advisory Board.

The decision rests with the Campbell Steering Group following a recommendation by the Nominations Committee.

The presentation of the award takes place during the Annual Colloquium.

2009 Prize recipient
William Shadish, Professor and Founding Faculty, University of California, Merced, will be awarded the Frederick Mosteller Award in honour of distinctive contributions to the science of systematic reviews.
