Description:Third Annual Campbell Collaboration Colloquium occurred in Stockholm, Sweden. The main purpose of the third annual colloquium was to promote the international and global character of the Collaboration. 2002, Second Annual Campbell Colloquium: Joining Disciplines to Improve Public Policy: The Role of Research and Systematic Reviews, February 21-22, 2002 (Philadelphia, USA)

Description:The Second Annual Campbell Collaboration Colloquium was hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA USA. The underlying aim of the colloquium was to help develop mechanisms for bringing people from different disciplines together in the preparation of high quality systematic reviews on social and behavioral interventions and programs. This theme is particularly pertinent to the goals of the Campbell Collaboration. Many societal problems demand the simultaneous attention of approaches and ideas from different disciplinary orientations. This colloquium included both invited addresses as well as topical sessions. The focus was to bring together people with different perspectives on the same issue with the expectation that a broad perspective is likely to result in better solutions than have been previously developed. Plenary sessions addressed topics such as truancy and how policy makers use evidence gleamed from different disciplines. Topic such as day care and housing were discussed within the purview of each of the present Campbell Review Coordinating Groups: Crime and Justice, Education, and Social Welfare. Over 200 people attended the colloquium representing 14 countries, 55 universities, 23 government agencies, 20 research entities, and five foundations to name a few.

2001, First Annual Campbell Colloquium: How to do a Campbell Systematic Review, February 22-23, 2001 (Philadelphia, USA)

Description:The First Annual Campbell Collaboration Colloquium was held at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA USA. One of the goals of the Colloquium was to learn better how to initiate and engage in systematic reviews. The agenda consisted of reports of systematic reviews in progress, sessions on how to do a systematic review, and discussion on the methodological issues in conducting reviews. Another goal was to understand and meet the interests of users of systematic reviews such as members of the public, government agencies, foundations, research communities, media, and intermediary organizations. The Steering Group, Review Groups, Methods Groups, Dissemination and Technology Groups also provided progress reports of activity since the Inaugural Meeting (February 2000). Updates on the business plan, and a mapping of next steps completed the agenda. To help defray costs, The Swedish Social Science Research Council, provided funding for the Colloquium. This Colloquium included participants from 14 countries. Collectively, they represented government, social agencies, universities, research organizations, foundations, non-profit, and private, for profit organizations, and represented the collaboration's members -- producers, disseminators, and users of research synthesis.
