Biography for Catherine Blaya

Catherine Blaya is an Associate Professor in Education Sciences at the University Teachers Training Centre in Bordeaux. She is director of the European Observatory of Violence in Schools. She has published and contributed to the publication of several books and articles on violence in schools and her work is mainly focused on comparative research on school violence: Violence in Schools and Public Policies (2002); Violence in Schools: ten approaches in Europe (2001); L'Oppression quotidienne (2002); School bullying: another form of violence (2001). She has also conducted research on truancy, school drop out and disaffection for the ministry of Education.

Catherine Blaya is a fellow of the AFC (French Association of Criminology), a fellow of the AECSE (Association of Lecturers in Education Sciences), a fellow of the Comparative and International Education Society. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of School Violence.
